WELBECK 1 1500 Normal Sqn training – there was a gunnery trade test at ECKINGTON. All ranks wore respirators for half an hour. A Field General Court Martial assembled to-day to try two Gdsn.
2 1500 Drill parade under the Adjutant, otherwise normal Sqn training. The Commanding Officer held a conference.
WARCOP 3 1530 The Bn moved to WARCOP to-day to carry out firing on the ranges.
4 1630 The Bn carried out firing on the ranges to-day.
5 1630 The Bn carried out firing on the ranges again to-day.
WELBECK 6 1700 The Bn moved back to WELBECK to-day, by train, an advance party returning with the Bn M.T.
7 1500 Sqns at the disposal of Sqn Leaders.
8 1500 Drill parade. A Bn wireless course began to-day. Sqns at the disposal of their Sqn Leaders. Training films were shown to the Bn in the afternoon. Intensive wireless activity. First Parade 0830 from to-day.
9 1530 Bn netting practise. Normal Sqn training and maintenance parades.
10 1500 No 1 Sqn carried out firing at TOTLEY ranges to-day. Other Sqns normal training and maintenance. Duties now mount at 1900 hrs daily.
11 1500 The Commanding Officer inspected all ‘B‘ vehicles of Nos 2 and 3 Sqns. Sqns otherwise at the disposal of Sqn Leaders. Intensive W/T stops to-day.
12 1500 Sunday. Bn paraded for church at CUCKNEY.
13 1500 Normal training and maintenance. Wireless silence.
14 1500 HQ Sqn fired on PLAIN PIECE ranges. Major J.C. Gascoigne and Major R.H. Heywood-Lonsdale are promoted Temporary Majors and WS/Captains to date 4 Mar 44.
15 1530 Drill parade under the Adjutant. The Commanding Officer lectured to to all tk crews to-day. 2/Lieut. Hon. M.R.V. Eliot promoted Lieut. to date 11 Mar 44.
16 1500 All dismounted personnel paraded under the Adjutant for drill. Tanks took part in rehearsal for Bde Exercise.
17 1730 Exercise “Smith”.
18 1500 Sqns at the disposal of Sqn Leaders for training and maintenance.
19 1500 Sunday. Voluntary church services.
20 1600 Demonstration by composite Sqn under Major Gascoigne, to 8 Royal Scots. No. 3 Sqn fired on TOTLEY Ranges. A Class III wireless course began to-day.
21 1500 Sqns carried out Tk/Inf co-operation. No. 2 Sqn fired at TOTLEY. 2/Lieut. J.B. Sumner is promoted Lieut. to date 12 Mar 44.
22 1530 The Bn took part in Exercise “Portland”. Wireless trade test.
23 1500 The Bn took part in Exercise “Tatler”.
24 1730 Exercise “Tatler”.
25 1730 Bn returned from Exercise “Tatler”.
26 1500 Sunday. Voluntary church services.
27 1500 Class II Gunnery trade test. Composite Sqn carried out training with the 2nd Gordons. Sqns otherwise at disposal of Sqn Leaders. Training films shown in the afternoon.
28 1500 Sqns carried out Tk/Inf cooperation with the 2nd Gordon Highlanders. W/S Lieut P.A. Walker is promoted Temporary Capt to date 16 Mar 44. W/Lieut N.J. Mavrogordato and W/Lieut J.B. Sumner posted to the Bn to date 13 March and 19 Feb respectively.
29 1500 Bn Inf/Tk cooperation exercise with 2nd Gordon Highlanders.
30 1700 HQ Sqn and No 2 Sqn carried out firing at MIDLOPE Ranges to-day.
31 1530 No 1 Sqn and No 3 Sqn fired at MIDLOPE. Remainder at Sqn Leaders disposal.
