BLA 1 to 31 JU   Bde continues to garrison the KREI of FLENSBURG. Evacuation continues from DENMARK through KREIS to the Discharge Centre at HIEDEn also the continued evacuation of all services from FLENSBURG itself. Machinery of the district is now beginning to turn, the Power Station is working and has been converted from coal to part oil burning. Coal is arriving by train & local stocks of oil are being used. Arrests are continuing daily from Major Offences such as fighting, to carrying firearms, out after curfew, false documents, etc. Harbour has been cleared of all underwater obstacles by the Royal Navy. Generally the real problems are purely Military Government and not Military at the present stage. Although the area is being used as a hospital centre and has large numbers of wounded service personnel there are also many troubles arising from the displaced personnel, POLES, RUSSIANS, LATVIANS, ESTONIANS etc, each individual nationality having its own individual trouble, or otherwise.There is also the headacke of GERMAN service personnel discharged from concentration areas returning to FLENSBURG who have no real right to be in the area but who have stated when being discharged that their familiesor their homes are here, in preference of being returned to the RUSSIAN zone, or perhaps their homes were in the RHINE area which has been bombed out.This complicates the question of housing and feeding, and as winter draws near the question of overcrowding arises considerably. This question is well in hand and arrangements are being made that all surplus or non-resident before 1939 should be returned to their original homes.There is also the trouble of the "no movement order" for civilians which means that thousands of refugees from all front who came up to the quiet area still being here without anything to do but raise petty queries.Again, only time will solve this problem.
