Robert Aubrey Alexander Doherty kwam waarschijnlijk op 23 februari 1945 om het leven als Flight Lieutenant en Pilot bij het neerstorten van de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XX "KB350" van No. 608 (North Riding) Squadron nabij Hohn/Rendsburg/Kiel, Duitsland. Het toestel, waarmee hij samen met Navigator Flying Officer Leonard Moore op weg waas voor een operatie boven Berlijn, raakte tijdens de nacht van 23 op 24 februari 1945 vermist.
