Periode:
Tweede Wereldoorlog (1939-1945)
"Reverend Father John Henaghan, an Irish Citizen, and a Member of Saint Columban, performed meritorious service for the United States during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, from 1942 to 1945. As a co-worker of Reverend Father Kelly in the Church of Malate, he secretly gave aid and sustenance, material and spiritual, to the American and Allied internees hospitalized at the Remedios Hospital in Manila. Through some confidential persons, he also sent material help to internees in Santo Tomas and Los Banos. For his pro-American activities, he was picked up and killed by the Japanese when Manila was about to be liberated in February 1945. Reverend Father Henaghan died with that Christian Faith in God that he has done his duty to the cause of Freedom and to his fellowmen."
