Amerikaanse Haven En Munitiedepot 1945

This was the location of a US harbour and munitions depot during the Solomons Campaign. In 1945 the site was demolished and equipment and munitions were dumped in the channel.
It was a large munitions and supply site with three large concrete dock structures which now rest on the channel slope from the surface down to 40m.
Where its located in a deep water channel between Pavuvu and Mbanika Islands would have provided good access for shipping. There is a large amount of material dumped, much of it is now calcified by the reef.
