3   Bn move back to HORNSEA, Yorks from STAMFORD.
4   Lt G.E. Gibbs and 90 ORs proceeded to LIMEHOUSE to attend Street Fighting Course No. 2 Appx “B”
7   Lt D.R.G. Jones joined after being on 7 days sick leave.
8   General Sir Bernard L. Montgomery KCB, DSO, Commander-in-Chief, 21 Army Group, visited the Battalion an daddressed the troops at ROWLSTON CAMP. Lt G.E. Gibbs and his party returned from LIMEHOUSE Street Fighting Course No 2. Lts E.A. Campbell and C.E. Spooner attended 'I' Couse at 8 Corps HQ.
9   Capt. B.K. Reynolds appointed OC “SP” Coy. Lt C.E. Spooner appointed IO. Capt. J.H. Ruffell apointed OC “HQ” Coy. Lt S. Jones appointed MTO. Pnr Pl gave demonstration of method of blowing in slit trenches with Hawkin's Grenades. Lts E.A. Campbell and C.E. Spooner returned from 'I' Course at 8 Corps HQ. All Offrs and men connected with transport attended demonstration of Assault Bridging on HORNSEA MERE.
HORNSEA 11   Lt T.J. Aplin appointed PRI.
13   Bn proceeded on Corps Ex “Eagle”, and moved to conc area West of HULL.
14   Bn remains in conc area.
15   Bn moves North to gain contact with enemy.
15 2000 After armoured battle, armour was relieved by inf and Bn took up posns at CARTON FIELDS on YORKSHIRE WOLDS.
16-19   Patrols activities from posns at CARTON FIELDS. Valuable infm obtained from all patrols.
19   1 Hereford attack WARREN Fm, NORTH of their posn and fail. CO volunteers to attack WARREN Fm.
20   “D” Coy attack and capture WARREN Fm after hard battle with hy cas. Posn then taken over by “B” Coy. Bn comes under Comd 32 Gds Inf Bde but retains same posns on ground. Appx “A”
21-22   Gds Bde can make no progress and suffer hy cas, but from 1630 hrs 22 Feb Bn commence to attack NORTH and late at night “B” Coy is established Eastern end of SLEDMERE. This move was vital to keep open the rd for movement of pet to own armour NE of SLEDMERE.
23 1730 Bn moves with Gds Armoured Div to take up pivot NORTH of SLEDMERE and eventually occupy pivot in DUGGLEBY WOLD Fm late at night. Bn reverts to Comd 159 Inf Bde.
24   1 Hereford and 4 KSLI move to cross R Derwent, NORTH of WOLDS and the Bn moves up on foot in reserve of their posns to re-inforce whichever is successful in crossing. 1 Hereford cross with three Coys.
24 1630 Cease Fire Ex “Eagle”.
25 0300 Bn returned to Station.
25-29   Rest from Intensive trg. Time devoted to maintenance and re trg.
